About the instructor
Our instructor has run treatment plants, written their O&M manuals and trained their operators.
Taught by an operator
Brad Musick brings that experience into every class. He has worked inside treatment plants, run them, and advised the utilities that depend on them, and that range of experience shapes the practical, plant-ready training his students receive.
Brad served as superintendent of two Indiana advanced treatment plants, one rated at 27 MGD and the other at 24 MGD. Running those plants meant leading staff and managing the annual O&M budget, coordinating improvement projects, directing grant and revenue funds, and taking part in union contract negotiations, along with the lift stations, collection lines and combined sewer overflow sites that come with a large utility.
Before founding Wastewater Solutions, Inc., Brad served as National Practice Leader for Operations Services at two large engineering firms, Kennedy Jenks and Brown and Caldwell.
Brad has trained operators at hundreds of treatment plants across the United States and Canada, including one Indiana plant in 26 of the last 29 years. He also writes plant-specific and electronic O&M manuals for municipal and industrial plants.
Whether the job is starting up a new facility or helping an operating staff earn their certifications, his goal is the same: a plant that runs well, run by people who are confident running it.
Why the classes are built this way
Developed from real wastewater operations, process-control and troubleshooting experience.
Brad has held the highest wastewater operator certification in six states. His classes come from running plants, starting them up, writing their O&M manuals and troubleshooting them with the operators on shift.
So every class keeps asking the practical question: what this actually means when you’re standing in front of the clarifier at 2:00 AM.
